Iwona Tamborska: The Emperor's New Clothes
12-14.03.2025
Hall C, Art Zone
The Emperor's New Clothes is an exhibition of jewelry by Iwona Tamborska, a graduate of Cultural Studies at the Jagiellonian University with over 15 years of experience in jewelry, goldsmithing, and jewelry. She is a lecturer at the Higher School of Artistic Crafts in Wrocław and a guest lecturer at the Cornwall School of Art, Craft, and Jewellery (United Kingdom) and Sydney Art School (Australia). She won the Grand Prix in Art Jewellery Magazine's "Oscars" jewelry competition, was a finalist in the Saul Bell Award, and has been included in the prestigious list of the Swiss MichelAngelo Foundation since 2021. Her jewelry style evokes magical realism and effortlessly imbues images from everyday life with a touch of uniqueness. The exhibition will refer to the fairy-tale aspect of the artist's works and the predominance of aesthetic and artistic values over utilitarian ones.
The exhibition will be accompanied by photographs by Małgorzata (MAR GO) Skwara – a photographer, graduate of the Photography Academy and Vision Lab at the University of Luks , and member of Luks Federation of Photographic Art (FLPA). Her works, balanced with light and color, evoke the serene paintings of Renaissance masters. One might say she paints with her camera. The photographs will showcase Iwona Tamborska's jewelry on Renaissance-style models.
