AMBERIF SPRING 2022 IS COMING!
The spring edition of AMBERIF will be held in Gdańsk for the 29th time and, as each year, the focus will be on Baltic amber and jewellery. This time, we meet on 22–24 March in the welcoming ERGO ARENA Sports & Entertainment Hall. AMBERIF Days 1 & 2 are dedicated to industry professionals for business with buyers from all over the world. Day 3 will be open to the general public to allow individuals to purchase unique jewellery and amber items. More than 200 exhibitors have registered, from 9 countries (including Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Italy, the UK and India). Despite the pandemic restrictions that are still ongoing in many countries, we expect a large presence from buyers from European countries and representatives of Polish jewellery stores.
The exhibitor stands have been newly grouped into a number of thematic areas:
TOP AMBER—ca. 30 most prominent exhibitors who offer top quality amber products
AMBER JEWELLERY—a wide array of popular amber jewellery from worldwide exhibitors
GOLD & SILVER—jewellery made of precious metals and stones, watches, jewellery trends
TECH ZONE—a full range of technologies, findings and services to support jewellery manufacturing
DESIGN GALLERY—new collections of unique jewellery made by Poland’s leading jewellery artists and a debut zone for young designers of original jewellery.
Such a comprehensive display emphasises the importance of AMBERIF as Poland’s largest jewellery industry exhibition and the world’s leading event dedicated to the promotion of amber.
The fair will have an extensive side event programme of art and science: a gemmology conference organised by the SRJ Association of Jewellery Experts, business consultancy brought to you by the Polish Chamber of Amber Commerce, the Amber Laboratory run by the International Amber Association where you can have your purchased items IR tested and identified for their origin; an exhibition by the Gallery of Art in Legnica, which presents the results of the International Jewellery Competition themed Still Human, is a worthy recommendation as well.
The Artus Court in Gdańsk (23 March at 18:30) will host the award ceremony in two design competitions. Amberif Design Award is an international event that in 2022 had the theme of Amber as a Reward. The judges representing academia and design institutions from the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Japan and Poland selected the entries for the exhibition and awarded prizes. The winner of the Grand Prize sponsored by the Mayor of Gdańsk is Emma Carrau Bueno, an artist based in Milan, the Silver Prize sponsored by the MTG SA Gdańsk International Fair Co. was awarded to Tadeusz Jaśkowiak of Poland, with the Amber Prize sponsored by the International Amber Association going to Alberto Davila of Mexico. Complete information including the verdict description and reproductions of the pieces is available at: https://amberif.pl/en/amberif-design-award/verdict/
The announcement of results in the Amberif Selection Award for Exhibitors is the other and no less important industry event. The main prize is a prestigious statuette awarded by Poland’s Minister of Development and Technology. The prize-winning piece will also become the global advertising showpiece for the spring edition of AMBERIF in 2023.
Apart from its business aspect, AMBERIF is also a venue for less formal, social and business community meetings. Exhibition previews and presentations of artistic jewellery collections provide space for such gatherings. This time, the AMBERIF guests have been invited to participate in a special evening (22 March at 19:00) at the Museum of Amber, which reopened last year in its new home at the Great Mill, Gdańsk. Next to an opportunity to view the permanent exhibition of old and contemporary handicraft, specimens of remarkable inclusions and amber varieties from around the world, the Museum welcomes you to the opening of two temporary exhibitions: Trend Book 2022, a show of innovative Baltic amber works by design students from the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, invited artists and designers from Poland and Belgium, as well as the launch of a solo jewellery exhibition by Sławomir Fijałkowski, educator at the Academy, entitled Eight Eighths.
