THE AMBER LABORATORY

The Amber Laboratory is where buyers, trade fair visitors and amber enthusiasts can get an expert opinion on the amber jewellery items they have purchased or own, and check their authenticity, origin and structure. The Laboratory is operated by the International Amber Association, a recognised industry organisation that includes amber researchers, specialists and experts with many years of experience in amber identification and certification. In its work, the Laboratory applies the established raw amber classification standards and good practices adopted by major manufacturers. Moreover, at Amberif, the Amber Commission is appointed to ensure the quality standards of the jewellery on display and the exhibitors’ compliance with the trade fair regulations, as well as that each product group is correctly labelled in gemmological terms according to the acceptable means of mechanical and thermal processing. Owing to this, trade visitors are guaranteed safe purchases, while Amberif contributes to raising quality standards and making amber and its properties better known worldwide.
