We cordially invite you to the opening of the "Alchemist's Sister" exhibition, which will take place on March 27 at 8:00 PM at the IAA Gallery in Gdańsk, as part of the Amberif Spring – Amberif International Fair of Amber and Jewellery.
The exhibition presents a monographic series by Kelly McCallum from Great Britain, winner of the IAA Award in the Amber Trip 2025 competition.
Kelly McCallum is an artist working in a variety of media, from jewelry, sculpture, and applied art to painting and works on paper. Her work explores natural history, narrative, and storytelling, and has been exhibited internationally, including at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, as well as in galleries in Europe, North America, and Korea.
The series "The Alchemist's Sister" transports the viewer to an extraordinary world at the intersection of archaeology, fantasy, and the imagination of a mad scientist. The artist juxtaposes precious Baltic amber nuggets with shards and fragments from post-production, dismantling any hierarchies of materials.
Insects, flowers, seeds, and mysterious objects create a dense, fascinating world for each viewer to discover and interpret independently. Every detail provokes reflection on meaning and the limits of imagination.
